The 2023 softball season for the local area will get underway as the Kewaunee Storm will travel to Valders to take on the Vikings Tuesday night.
After their non-conference matchup against the Wrightstown Tigers on March 30th was postponed, the snow melted away and the Storm are able to take the field to begin their season. Last season, Kewaunee finished 8-9 overall and 4-5 in the Packerland Conference. The Storm will have to replace the production of 4 graduating seniors from that team, but according to their roster, will carry nine freshmen on the Varsity team.
The Vikings of Valders were a four seed in the WIAA playoffs last season after finishing the regular season at 13-6 overall and 10-4 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference. Valders was defeated in the Sectional Semifinal by Wautoma by a score of 3-0. The team graduated five seniors from last year’s regional title team. Valders is set to play Luxemburg-Casco later on in the season as well.
First Pitch from Valders is set for 4:30 p.m.
