There was finally some drama at American Family Field on Wednesday, but the result was the same as Garrett Mitchell homered to win the game 7-6 sweep the series from the New York Mets.
After Francisco Lindor's RBI hit gave the Mets an early 1-0 lead, the Brewers plated four in the second inning thanks to an Owen Miller RBI single and a three-run dinger by rookie Joey Wiemer. The Mets would tie the game the next inning after Lindor knocked in another run and Pete Alonso drove both of them home with a deep fly of his own to make 4-4. Alonso hit a second homer in the fifth inning to make 6-4 Mets, but Jesse Winker's hot start continued with a two-run double to tie the game back up at 6-6.
It would stay tied up until the bottom of the ninth when Mitchell clubbed his third homer of the season to win the game, their fifth straight of the season.
The Brewers will take Thursday off before welcoming the NL Central favorites St. Louis Cardinals to American Family Field for a three-game set. The first pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.
