Storm softball struggles in opener

The Kewaunee Storm softball team was the first local team to get their spring season going outdoors, but ultimately fell to the Chilton Tigers 17-4 in 5 innings.

The game was closely contested through the first three innings, but the top of the fourth inning would be one for Kewaunee to forget. After three were completed, the score was 5-2 Chilton with the Tigers coming up to bat. Maddilyn Mueller would start the scoring in the inning off for Chilton, roping a single into left field scoring two runs. After a walk, Megan Meyers would drive two more home on a double and an error, making the game 9-2. Chilton would continue their high scoring inning with walks and scoring on passed balls and concluded the top of the fourth with a 17-2 lead.

After Braelyn Chevalier came in to score for Kewaunee, Baleigh Saxby piled on another run for the Storm in the bottom of the 5th to make the final score 17-4.

Kewaunee is set to take on Sturgeon Bay next with their game against Two Rivers being postponed.
