After battling field conditions all week, maybe Friday morning will be the day the Luxemburg-Casco baseball team gets to play their first game of the season.

While the Spartans have not been able to get on the field, the Vikings secured their first win of the season last Saturday, beating Amherst 5-0.

Previous attempts to play the defending state champion Denmark Vikings have been thwarted by Mother Nature. Her influence may not be as strong Friday with the game scheduled for the turf at Capital Credit Union Park in Ashwaubenon. Taking advantage of being off for Good Friday, the first pitch is scheduled for 9:45 a.m.

In other baseball news, Kewaunee dropped their season opener to Kewaunee 9-6.
