Brewers can't capitalize on chances; fall to Cardinals

After falling behind in the first inning, the Milwaukee Brewers were unable to muster any runs, as they were shut out by the St. Louis Cardinals 6-0 Saturday night.

Eric Lauer did not have his best game going for the Brewers, as the Cardinals brought home two runs in the first inning after Willson Contreras singled making it 2-0 after a Nolan Arenado sacrifice fly out.

The top of the third inning would not be friendly to Lauer and the Brewers either, as Nolan Arenado and rookie Jordan Walker hit a pair of home runs, extending the lead to 6-0 Cardinals.

Milwaukee had bases loaded opportunities in the 3rd and 8th innings, but Christian Yelich and Luke Voit would strand all three runners in those opportunities, leaving the Brewers scoreless in a game for the second game this season.

Sunday will be the rubber match of the series, with Freddy Peralta slated to pitch for Milwaukee, and Jake Woodford on the mound for the Cardinals. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m.
