Track teams concluded busy week of action

Algoma, Kewaunee, Sturgeon Bay, Southern Door, and Sevastopol all got the chance to get onto the outdoor track this week, with the Storm and Clippers getting a pair of opportunities.

 

The Algoma track teams were small but mighty in their performances at the Southern Door Quad meet on Tuesday. The teams posted six top three performances, including event wins by Emily Kirchman (shot put) and Austin Miller (pole vault). Logan Borths swept the wheelchair events of shot put, 100m, 400m, and 800m with four personal records.

 

The Sturgeon Bay track teams posted several event victories this week as they competed at the Southern Door Quad and the Kewaunee Five meets on Tuesday and Thursday nights respectively. On Tuesday. the Sturgeon Bay girls won the Southern Door meet with 95 points. First place finishers included the girls' 4x100m and 4x400m relays, Ella Tarkowski (100m, 400m), Julia Kurek (800m), Claire Quaderer (3200m), Cate Anderson (100m hurdles), Nida Zukauskaite (300m high hurdles), and Andrea Wilke (pole vault). On Friday, both teams finished in the middle of the field in Kewaunee. First-place finishes include Patrick Haese (100m), boys' 4x200m relay, Andrea Wilke (pole vault), Jade Tomberlin (high jump), and the girls' 4x100m relay. 

 

The Sevastopol track team got its first outdoor track meet out of the way with a pair of fifth-place finishes at the Kewaunee Five meet on Thursday. Bea Dramm led the way with her first-place finish in the 3200m. Atlee Manson (3rd, 100m), Ezra Linnan (3rd, 800m), boys' 4x400m relay, and Caitlyn Hasenjager (3rd 300m high hurdles) posted top three performances.

 

Two meets in a week proved to be no problem for the Kewaunee boys' track team as they won both multi-team meets hosted by Southern Door and their school. On Tuesday, the Storm boys beat Southern Door by 116-91 margin in Brussels at the meet that also included Sturgeon Bay and Algoma. In that meet, the girls' team just missed out on second place with 72 points. First-place finishers included Christopher Cullen (400m, 800m), Isaac Schlies (300M Hurdles), six of the eight relay teams, Kemper Robinson (Discus), Jordan Lamack (high jump), Maddix Mueller (triple jump), Fany Pecout (200m), and Hannah Miller (1600m, triple jump). Thursday's win for the Storm boys was even more impressive, beating second place Peshtigo by 101 points. The girls' team tied Peshtigo for first place with 106 points. Thursday's meet also featured Sturgeon Bay and Sevastopol. First-place finishers included Nathan Schlough (200m), Christopher Cullen (800m), James Joski (1600m), five of the eight relays, DJ Echos (shot put) Kemper Robinson (discus), Jordan Lamack (high jump, triple jump), Hannah Miller (triple jump, 800m, 400m), Fany Pecout (discus), and Jessica Barnica (100m hurdles).

 

The Southern Door track team boasted several event wins in the quad meet they hosted on Tuesday. First-place finishers included Zach Lynch (100m, 200m), Ben Grota (1600m, 3200m), the boys' 4x100m relay, Kaden Borkovetz (long jump), Frankie Nellis (long jump), and Allianna Dufek (discus).
