Blue Devils secure baseball sweep of Clippers

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers suffered similar fates in both ends of their doubleheader against Oconto on Saturday, losing the games 10-3 and 18-3.

 

The Clippers started out game one strong with a pair of runs on RBI singles by Brady Kollath and Curt Meyer. The Blue Devils would respond with two runs in the first, three runs in the second, and four runs in the third inning. The Clippers would cut the lead with a Gavin Fernandez RBI single in the fifth, but the Clippers would give it back in the following inning en  route to the 10-3 loss. Evan  Braschnewitz and Brady Kollath combined to strike out five batters while allowing nine earned runs.

 

In game two,  it was already 11-0 Blue Devils when Curt Meyer delivered his second RBI hit of the day. The Blue Devils would add on six runs in the fourth and and another tally in the fifth in the mercy-rule shortened game. Caden LeMieux stole home and Meyer knocked in another run in the 18-3 loss for the Clippers in their final innings of play.
