Softball Recap: Luxemburg-Casco dominates Denmark on 104.1 WRLU, Eagles crush Reedsville

A showdown between two of the top softball teams Monday in the North Eastern Conference turned into a rout, as the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans blew past the Denmark Vikings 13-2 in Luxemburg on 104.1 WRLU and New Radio Sports Network.

Denmark jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, only to see the Spartans come back with two runs in the bottom half on a two run single by Josie Dorner.

Denmark had a chance to reclaim the lead in the third inning, but L-C pitcher Savannah Jandrin was able to pitch out of a first and third and nobody out jam to keep the lead and never look back.

The Spartans broke the game open with four runs in the third inning and seven more runs in the fourth inning to put the game away.  A nifty 5-4-3 double play by the Spartan defense ended the five inning game.

Jillian Jorgenson knocked in four runs, while Maggie Hanmann and Josie Dorner added three RBIs to lead the Spartan attack.

Savannah Jandrin went the full five innings and allowed only two runs gaining her fifth win of the season.  Amber Johanek took the loss for Denmark (6-2).

Luxemburg-Casco (7-1) will now travel to Wrightstown to play a doubleheader on Tuesday.
