In a race that is routinely dominated by people from well outside of the region, the Door County Half Marathon kept things in house for this year's champion.
Sevastopol's Eduardo Neri took an early lead and never let go as he captured first place with a time of 1:14:23. That was close to 80 seconds faster than Madison's Rodee Schneider, who is a four-time winner in his own right. Schneider did win the Masters division (40+ years old) with a time of 1:15:41. Glendale's Zachary Jindra, Chicago's Shane Reilly, and Chicago's Tim Brinkmann rounded off the top 5 for the men.
Sherwood's Kaitlin Kowalke shattered a previous Door County Half Marathon record with a time of 1:18:18. She beat the previous record holder by over three minutes and 45 seconds. Appleton's Relena Ribbons, Green Bay's Maggie Priebe, Germantown's Khia Kurtenbach, and Minneapolis' Katie Peterson rounded out the top five for the women. Green Bay's Katie Barrera won the Masters division with a time of 1:33:32.
