West Jacksonport rolls to 20-7 win over Maplewood on 105.1 The GOAT

The West Jacksonport Ports exploded for 13 runs in the seventh inning to overwhelm the Maplewood Mets 20-7 Sunday afternoon in Door County Baseball League action.

 

After a scoreless first two innings, The Ports (3-1) took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, capped by a solo home run by Derek Niedzwiecki.  Maplewood responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-2 lead.

 

Things started to go south for the Mets in the sixth inning when the Ports scored four runs on just three hits.  The seventh inning saw the Ports bat around the order twice coming up with 13 runs, including a three-run home run by Alex Scharter who finished the game with a team—high four RBIs.

 

Drew Tanck was the winning pitcher for the Ports, going six innings and allowing five runs on six hits while striking out seven.  Mets starting pitcher Jayden Diller took the loss going six innings plus allowing eight runs.

 

Maplewood falls to 1-3 in the league while the Ports remain in a tie for first place at 3-1.

 

In other action Sunday in Door County Baseball League play, Kolberg beat Institute 12-2, Washington Island topped Egg Harbor 7-5, and Sister Bay blew out Baileys Harbor 16-1.
