The Milwaukee Brewers upended the Baltimore Orioles 4-3 in extra innings Tuesday night thanks to a clutch two-out hit by Joey Wiemer in the bottom of the 10th inning at American Family Field.
The Brewers took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning only to see Baltimore tie the game in the top of the second inning 2-2.
Brewer Starter Freddy Peralta settled down after that and pitched five innings allowing six hits and two runs while striking out nine without walking a batter.
Baltimore took a 3-2 lead in the seventh inning on a solo home run by Ryan O’Hearn. An RBI single by Brice Turang tied the game in the eighth inning at 3-3.
That set the stage for Wiemers’ line drive hit down the left field line that scored the winning run, making Peter Strzelecki (3-4) the winning pitcher after pitching a scoreless top of the tenth inning.
The Brewers (33-28) will face off with Baltimore again Wednesday starting at 6:40 p.m. in game two of the inter-league series.
