Packers face Patriots in Lambeau exhibition

The Green Bay Packers will open the Lambeau Field portion of the 2023 campaign with an exhibition game against the New England Patriots.

This will be the third time in four days the Packers have taken the field against the Patriots this week as the two teams had combined practices on Wednesday and Thursday. The Jordan Love era got off to a good start as they beat the Cincinnati Bengals 36-19 on the road a week ago. Love led the Packers on its opening drive to a touchdown, going 7-10 before finding Romeo Doubs in the endzone for the score. The Packers traded touchdowns for field goals as Tyler Goodson rushed in from short distance to make it 14-3 before the Bengals made it 14-6. A pick-six off of Sean Clifford and a couple of field goals actually gave the Bengals a small lead before Clifford led a touchdown drive to end the half and give the Packers a 21-16 lead. Undrafted rookie running back Emanuel Wilson stole the show in the second half, scoring twice including an 80-yard rush to cap off the scoring on his 111-yard rushing day. The Packers' offense outscored the Bengals 15-3 in the second half.

The Patriots opened their preseason with a 20-9 loss to the Houston Texans, although they did welcome rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud rudely in his first NFL action.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
