DCU United Boys Swim Team finishes second in Plymouth meet

Nights like tonight are hard to beat. The Door County United Boys had
a brilliant night at the pool- from the sportsmanship to the cheering
to the general atmosphere on deck. This is what high school swimming
is about. This group of five is truly a remarkable team. The amount of
swimmers, coaches, and officials who spoke highly of the DCU gentlemen's swimming and character speaks volumes
tonight.

The highlights of the night span every event of the evening, so here
are both the highlights and the results from the meet:
-The tiny DCU squad of four put up a huge total of 73 points spread
between six first-place finishes, two seconds, a third, and a fourth.
-The 200 Medley Relay (Luke Filar, Jack Monfils, George Atwell, Logan
Filar) swam an incredible 1:53.02 to beat Sheboygan South by three
seconds.
-Atwell cruised to a second-place finish in the 200 Free by six
seconds with a time of 2:17.72.
-Monfils dominated the 200 IM by 22 seconds, recording his season best
time of 2:07.28 (only .08 off his high school best from conference
championships last year).
-Logan Filar pulled out the victory in the 50 Free with his season
best of 24.28 and then went into the 100 Fly post break and brought in
a second first-place finish with a time of 1:04.57, nine seconds ahead
of the second-place finish.
-Atwell swam his second fastest individual high school 100 Free with a
time of 58.89.
-Luke Filar tried out the 500 and placed second with a time of
6:04.42, seven seconds ahead of the next finisher, was then ready
for his 100 Back, where he managed a season-best time of 1:10.42.
-Monfils had a huge win in the 100 Breast with his season-best swim of 1:03.98.
-The 400 Free Relay (Logan Filar, Atwell, Luke Filar, Monfils) had an
incredible first-place finish 13 seconds ahead of Sheboygan South with
a time of 3:45.07 (our season best time), and every member swam 1:00
or better.

The final results:
1. Sheboygan South - 141
2. DCU - 73
3. Plymouth - 58

Door County United's next meet will be Saturday, January 6 at Sheboygan North for the
