Track round-up: Kewaunee wins Peshtigo meet, Luxemburg-Casco heads to Two Rivers

Local teams brought home plenty of hardware from a collection of track meets they participated in on Thursday night.

 

The Kewaunee track teams made sure they brought home plenty of hardware on Thursday night as the boys took first place and the girls finished in second place at the Peshtigo Invitational. The Storm boys edged out the host Bulldogs by two points 184-182. They boasted several place winners including seven champions. Full results from the Peshtigo Invitational have not been posted.

 

The Algoma track team continues to post big invitational wins in field events, this time in Seymour on Thursday. For the girls, Estella Marrero won the pole vault with a final height of seven feet while Faith Gerdmann topped the discus ledger by two feet and the shot put by over four feet. For the boys, Aiden Moen posted a second-place finish in the 300m and Mason Melohn finished in third in the shot put.

 

The Sevastopol track teams competed against some of the top teams in the region on Thursday as part of the Seymour Invitational. Caitlyn Hasenjager posted one of the best results of the day for the Pioneers, coming in second place in the 300m hurdles. Cassie Rankin also posted a runner-up finish in the shot put and a third-place finish in the shot put. Jarius Dadam had the highest placement for the boys, coming in third in the long jump.

 

No results have been posted yet from the Klinkner Invitational in Chilton, which featured Gibraltar.

 

Area teams aren't taking Friday off as Luxemburg-Casco and Kewaunee travel to Two Rivers to face Denmark, Green Bay East, Little Chute, Manitowoc Lincoln, Manitowoc Lutheran, Mishicot, Oconto Falls, Two Rivers, and Valders. The first events begin at 4 p.m. Southern Door has a 3 p.m. call time where they will face Cedar Grove-Belgium, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, Kohler, New Holstein, Oostburg, Plymouth, Random Lake, Sheboygan Christian, Sheboygan North, and Kewaskum. Gibraltar will head to Hilbert to battle Living Word Lutheran, Valley Christian, Kaukauna, Suring, Berlin, Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, Ozaukee and St. Mary Catholic beginning at 4 p.m.
