DCU grounds Shawano at home meet

The Door County United (DCU) Girls High School Swim Team brought home yet another win on Thursday, October 3rd. The girls defeated Shawano High School 129 to 40 total points. DCU took 1st place in every varsity and junior varsity event during the meet. This was a night dedicated to our senior class. We are lucky to have seven outstanding seniors on our team. Manager Molly Hall is a senior at Southern Door High School. Caitlyn Hasenjager and Ophelia Linnan are seniors at Sevastopol High School. Isabella Jimenez Seyfer, Julia Michalski, Anika Steinbach, and Shambo Wienke are seniors at Sturgeon Bay High School. All seniors were strong competitors during the night’s events.

 

Caitlyn Hasenjager finished first in the varsity 50-yard freestyle and second in the varsity 100-yard backstroke. She was followed closely by Ophelia Linnan, who placed 3rd in the varsity 100-yard backstroke. Additionally, Ophelia finished fifth in the varsity 50 freestyle. Isabella Jimenez Seyfer finished second in her evening events, varsity 100-yard butterfly and varsity 100-yard breaststroke. Julia Michalski finished first overall in the varsity 200-yard individual medley and the varsity 500-yard freestyle. Anika Steinbach finished third overall in her varsity events, the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. Finally, Shambo Wienke finished fifth in the varsity 500-yard freestyle and sixth in the varsity 100-yard breaststroke. Her finish in the 100-yard breaststroke was her best time this season. The DCU swim team will travel to Wittenberg Birnamwood for their next conference meet on Thursday, October 10th.
