Phoenix men look to right ship at Milwaukee

The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team will need to break through its in-state rival Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon to snap its dozen-game losing streak.

The Phoenix have struggled mightily since beating Western Illinois and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in the season's opening weeks. In their last game, a second-half swoon buried the Phoenix men in Northern Kentucky, falling to the Norse 78-60. Down by just two at the break, the Norse outscored the Phoenix 34-16 down the stretch to extend the Phoenix's losing skid to 12. Marcus Hall paced the Phoenix with 19 points, Preston Ruedinger contributed 13 points, and Mac Wrecke chipped in eight points in the loss. The Panthers are looking at the Phoenix as their slump buster as well after recent losses to Oakland and Purdue Fort Wayne. The two rivals meet at UWM Panther Arena at 3 p.m.

Prior to that, the Phoenix women's team will continue their road trip with a 1 p.m. tip against Robert Morris. The Phoenix women used a 19-9 first quarter advantage to secure a 58-50 road win over Youngstown State on Thursday night. Natalie McNeal led the with 17 points while Callie Genke added 11 points. With two more three-pointers, Luxemburg-Casco alum Cassie Schiltz moved into a tie with Lydia Bauer (2009-13) for eighth in program history in three-pointers made.
