Badgers hang on to beat Buckeyes

The Wisconsin Badgers were able to withstand a second-half rally by the Ohio State Buckeyes Tuesday night to come away with a 70-68 win in Big Ten Conference play at the Kohl Center.

 

The Badgers built a 37-20 lead at half only to see the Buckeyes cut the lead to a single basket in the final seconds.

 

Ohio State had a chance to win by Carter Gilmore for the Badgers forced a sideline violation with 1.6 left to preserve the win.

 

John Tonje led the Badgers with 17 points while going 10 -for -10 from the free-throw line.

John Blackwell added 15 more and Steven Crowl dropped in 14 points and seven boards.

 

The win was Coach Greg Gard's 200th win as the head coach at UW.

 

Wisconsin will travel to California on Saturday to play USC and then take on UCLA on Tuesday on a west coast road trip.
