The heated rivalry between two NL Central teams looked like it was in mid-season form when the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs played at Maryvale Ball Park yesterday. The Cubs got the best of the Brewers in a 4-2 win for their first win of the spring.
Marco Estrada made his second start of the spring pitching three innings allowing one run on four hits. Mike Fiers picked up the loss when he gave up two runs in the top of the seventh inning when the score was tied at two.
Offensively, the Brewers had their first game of the spring without a home run. Ryan Braun led the team with two hits. Carlos Gomez and Juan Francisco each had hits that scored Milwaukee’s lone two runs.
Currently, through six games the Milwaukee Brewers in Cactus League play are 3-3. Next game is today at 2:05PM when Willy Peralta makes his spring training debut.
