Saturday was a historic day for Southern Door wrestling as senior Colin Schubert became the all-time career wins leader by taking first at the Cedar Grove Belgium Tournament. The 152-pounder dominated the competition. Schubert improved to 23-3 for the season and recorded his 125th win which makes him the career wins leader in Southern Door Wrestling history.
Eagle Coach Jerry Englebert said, "Colin started wrestling in 5th grade in our club youth program. He had an average record in middle school as he worked to learn his technique before really turning it on in high school. He is a pleasure to have on the team and a good role model for younger wrestlers. I feel fortunate to have been his first coach back in fifth grade and now on the varsity level. We'll be looking to get him to 150 wins by the end of the year and achieve his goal."
Hunter Pawelski (126) and Nolan Wagner (160) also took first at Cedar Grove. Jacob Englebert finished second at 138. After falling behind 5-1 Jacob lost a tough match to Stetson McCulley of Valders who is currently ranked 3rd in the state in D2. Mitchell Overbeck (285) finished third. Mitchell lost to Silas Petri of Brillion and narrowly missed a pin as time expired against Alex May of Cedar Grove Belgium.
