The Southern Door and Kewaunee High School boys basketball teams saw their seasons come to an end last night with regional tournament losses. The Sturgeon Bay Clippers came back to defend their home court and will continue on in the tourney.
The Clippers held Valders without a field goal for the final ten-plus minutes of their first round regional matchup last night. A 24-2 run in the fourth quarter and overtime marked one of the most impressive comebacks of the season for Sturgeon Bay. The Clippers earned a 49-38 victory with Nathan Abrahamson and Joey Sheehy leading the way with 11 points each. Sturgeon Bay will now play at Brillion tomorrow night in a regional semifinal.
Denmark ended Kewaunee's season 68-53 despite 17 points from Storm big man Reggie Nimmer. Logan Brusky also poured in 15 points but it wasn't enough against a very good Denmark squad. The Vikings play at Wrightstown on Friday.
Luxemburg-Casco won an extra early tip against Southern Door 69-35. Caleb Willems scored 16 points, Jake Zeitler scored 12 and Dave Vlotho added 11 for the Spartans. L-C moves on to play at Manitowoc Roncalli on Friday. The Eagles got a great effort from sophomore Mitchel Neubauer who posted a game-high 17 points for the Eagles.
