In-person classes are still in session after a Luxemburg-Casco High School teacher tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week. In the message sent to parents, staff, and students Wednesday afternoon, the unidentified teacher is in isolation and will remain there until they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours. Contact tracing performed by the Kewaunee County Public Health Department determined no staff or students are believed to be classified as a close contact. Speaking to DoorCountyDailyNews.com earlier this week after a primary school teacher tested positive before class was in session, Superintendent Glenn Schlender said they are confident with the protocols they have in place for a number of “what if” scenarios.
The school district is encouraging all students and staff to self-monitor themselves for possible symptoms of COVID-19. Sturgeon Bay School District has sent two second grade classes and the entire first grade into virtual instruction after positive COVID-19 tests were reported at Sawyer Elementary School.
