Looking at the rock formations along the walls of the Old Stone Quarry in Sturgeon Bay, Mike Parent knew his property was destined for something bigger and brighter. After a year of planning, Parent's vision for the quarry will become a reality when it hosts the Rock on the Rock event benefiting Sunshine Resources of Door County on Aug. 1.
Parent's expertise is in construction, not event planning, but conversations with an LED lighting professional and a member of Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns made him realize his idea was possible.
The day will feature more than just an LED light show and performances by Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns, Conscious Pilot and Bacchus Lotus. The event begins with presentations from the Open Door Bird Sanctuary, the Door County Museum and Geological Tours of Door County, which will share the story behind the quarry. Parent hopes people will experience what makes the Old Stone Quarry such a special place.
