Good news is coming Wednesday for city residents who face the steepest climb when it comes to finding affordable housing in Sturgeon Bay. The city and representatives from community development financial institution Cinnaire and real estate developer Spoerl Commercial will break ground on Phase 1 of the development known as The Avenue.
The new construction will bring 39 affordable housing units to 14th Avenue between Georgia Street and Iowa Drive. Thanks to low-income housing tax credits, the project will feature a mix of apartments for individuals and families earning between 30% and 60% of Door County’s median income, including eight units reserved for residents with special needs.
