On August 24, 2026, Gary Allen was gently welcomed into God’s arms, surrounded by the people who loved him most. The timeline of his life is quite simple. He was born on April 22, 1943, to George and Dorothy Allen. He grew up in Green Bay, where he met his wife, Carol. They married in September 1968 and proceeded to have four children – Kelly, Mike, Stacy and Chad. Down the road, he and Carol also welcomed Dionne Brunswick into their family through unofficial adoption procedures. His children, in turn, blessed him with six beautiful grandchildren – Madelyn, Camron, Rachel, Chloe, Noah and Maya. His love for and pride in them knew no bounds. Those are the facts. Here is the truth. Gary loved one woman his whole life, with his whole heart. They met at a tiny bar in Green Bay, where he elegantly hooked his beer bottle into his belt before asking her to dance. He was welcomed into and blessed to be a part of her large family, where he found joy in helping around the family farm, participating in regular booyah parties and playing lively games of Sheephead where laughter and smack talk reigned supreme. He courted his love with dashing good looks, a sweet set of wheels, and endless hours of fun spent fishing and camping together, which resulted in a small, but beautiful wedding, followed by four children and six grandchildren. His family embraced his love of the outdoors with endless hours spent camping on the Peshtigo River, as well as skiing, snow shoeing and hunting at his beloved cabin. Over the course of his life, he cultivated lifelong friendships filled with sass and wild adventures, the majority of which took place in the great outdoors – his favorite place to be. If there was a dirty joke to be told, Jameson to drink, or wildlife to pursue, Gary was all in! He loved to regale his adventures, as well as the adventures of his family and friends, with hearty laughter and a smile that consumed his face, but was still never big enough to reflect the joy in his heart. If Gary wasn’t with his family or friends, he could be found making the rounds in his neighborhood with a cup of coffee or a bottle of beer, chatting up his friends and keeping his finger on the pulse of the community. Gary was a man of few words. He let his actions convey his love for others – giving away most of his garden vegetables; helping his friends pour concrete, install garage doors, and shovel their driveways; and making sure his wife and children were safe and sound. His work ethic never wavered and was one of the greatest gifts he bestowed upon his children. He was rich in life because he measured wealth by the health and happiness of those he loved. He didn’t need much more than that. In fact, his wife often needed to remind him it was okay to change t-shirts, buy a new pair of shoes, or use more than three charcoal briquettes when firing up the grill. Through it all, his devotion to his family and his faith in God never wavered. He knew his life was in God’s hands and he found great peace in that knowledge. His family finds great peace knowing he is embraced by the Lord. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 29 at Corpus Christi Church.
