Joseph Alvin Pierrard, 67, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away early this morning, Wednesday, August, 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Joe was born October 24, 1958, in Ladysmith, WI, the son of Dwain and Sylvia Pierrard, who owned Dwain's Food in the 1970s and the Captain's Inn Supper Club in the 1980s, where Joe worked during high school and college. Joe was a proud member of the Sturgeon Bay High School Class of 1976, where he played fullback, wearing number 33. He was a stout player, making him nearly impossible to tackle. He was the first employee of Dwain's Grocery, the family-owned store, where he worked from 1972 to 1980. Joe attended St. Norbert College and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He went on to a career as an electrician, working for Palmer Johnson and Peterson Builders, and most recently for Therma-Tron-X, Inc. Joe was the family and town historian, spending much of his time researching local and family history. He was also an avid sports fan and a lifelong Packers and Brewers supporter, and he participated in competitive softball and bowling leagues. Although Joe never had children of his own, he was deeply family-oriented and played an integral role in the youth development of his nephews and nieces, mentoring them though sports and other activities as they grew into young adults, He is survived by his five siblings, Jackie, Robert, Jill(Bruce) Jean, and John; nine nephews and nieces; and 18 great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou; and his parents, Dwain and Sylvia. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2026 at Huehns Funeral Home with Deacon Mark Hibbs officating. Friends may call at the funeral home on September 11, 2026 from the 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
