Tonight, the Kewaunee Storm will travel to Brookfield Central to play Lancaster in a WIAA Division 5 Level 4 playoff football matchup. The last game dates back to 2006 when Lancaster won 21-14 in the playoffs. The winner of this game goes down to Camp Randall next week to play Stanley Boyd or Amherst for the Division 5 state championship.
Lancaster, from the Southwest Wisconsin Conference, is a force to be reckoned with. The Flying Arrows are averaging 46 points per game and have a really good rushing attack. So far on the season, the Flying Arrows have rushed for 57 touchdowns and 3,337 yards. Tyler Glass and Nate Tranel lead the rushing attack combining for 40 of the 57 scores on the ground. The thunder and lightning combo are what make the Flaming Arrows a dangerous team.
Kewaunee comes into tonight after a nice win over Cedar Grove Belgium. Kewaunee’s defense was the difference in last week’s game. Defensively, Caleb Johnson tallied three interceptions and returned two for touchdowns. Offensively, the Storm were balanced and must do the same this week. Coach Flaten also said they would like to put up points early against a tough defense. Lancaster has only given up 113 points all year, which was best in Division 5.
