Original story:
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services officially announced Monday that the state will now recommend that people who have an increased risk of exposure to or transmission of COVID-19 should receive a booster shot of the Pfizer vaccine after six months of getting their second dose.
The recommendation is for individuals 65 years or older, all residents in long-term care, and anyone between 50 and 64 years old that has underlying medical conditions.
DHS Secretary-designee Karen Timberlake says the “Booster doses are another tool at our disposal to stop the spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant and slow the spread of COVID-19 in communities throughout Wisconsin.”
The DHS also states that people 18-49 with certain underlying medical conditions may receive the Pfizer booster shot as well as those over 18 years old with increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission due to job or institutional settings.
