If you were on the Ice Age Trail at any point during September, you might have seen Jay Jaehnke making his way across the 1200 miles. On September 1st, Jaehkne set off from St. Croix falls to begin the journey across Wisconsin. He made his way, hiking and bicycling across the trail, to raise money and support people with disabilities. Jaehnke has spent over 20 years working with Aptiv, a non-profit organization that provides services for disabled people. At the finish line, a check was presented to him of the $76,000 he raised while completing the trip across Wisconsin. Waiting for him, at the end of the Ice Age Trail, was the Sunshine house, as well as a group of his loved ones. When asked the inspiration behind the trek, Jay said it was a combination of doing something he enjoys while raising awareness for Aptiv’s cause.
