Algoma Community Band

The event's name has changed, but a concert by the Algoma Community Band will have the same energy of music and fun on Wednesday evening, May 22.  The troupe’s Spring Concert, once called the annual After Taxes concert, was pushed to later this May to accommodate more “snowbirds” to attend, according to Co-director Jennifer Massey.  She describes the ensemble of songs and performances planned for this year’s spring concert.

The Algoma Community Band has about 40 musicians ranging from eighth graders to original members who have performed with the group over the past 46 years.  The free show will be held at 7 p.m. at the Algoma Performing Arts Center (PAC) on Fremont Street.  All free-will offerings will go towards the music programs at the Algoma Schools.  The Algoma Community Band concert series includes the 150th Algoma Fire Department Parade on Saturday, June 29, and they will open for Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns at the “Concert in the Park” in the Algoma Marina on Thursday, July 11.
