Southern Door Fire Department brings Christmas tidings to annual parade and picnic

The Southern Door Fire Department is turning Main Street in Forestville into Santa Claus Lane on Saturday as it hosts its annual Firefighters Picnic and Parade. With the event taking place exactly five months before elves and reindeer make their annual midnight ride, the Southern Door Fire Department will host a "Christmas in July"-themed parade ahead of an afternoon of fire safety demonstrations, music from Highway 10 DJ Service and The Presidents, food, beverages and more.

The money raised from the event will support the department's recent purchase of its Jaws of Life extrication equipment, which will also be demonstrated during the event at 1 p.m. Southern Door Fire Chief Rich Olson says a lot of thank-yous are exchanged throughout the day.

If you would like to participate in the parade, lineup begins on Mill Road at 10:30 a.m. before the parade steps off at 11 a.m. You can find more details about the event at this link.
