For emergency management directors like Kewaunee County's Tracy Nollenberg, it has been the weather that has kept them on their toes this year. After a snowstorm dumped 25 to 30 inches of snow on the area in March, the region was hit with torrential rainstorms that dropped several inches of rain. In recent weeks, more heavy rain and straight-line winds have caused flash flooding and other storm damage.

Nollenberg says they have stayed active, trying to keep residents informed as best they can using tools like the county's mass notification system and social media.

Nollenberg recommends always having an emergency plan and emergency supplies ready.

The reminder comes as the National Weather Service warns of hazardous weather on the way, with severe storms expected to hit the area from late Monday afternoon into the evening. Damaging winds, large hail, locally heavy rainfall, and even tornadoes are all possible, according to the latest storm projections.
