Burn ban issued in Egg Harbor

Dry conditions have caused the Town and Village of Egg Harbor to issue a burn ban until further notice. According to Precip.ai, Egg Harbor residents have seen 0.17 inches of rain this month and less than 0.70 inches of rain since the area received approximately 0.4 inches on July 17.

Issued at 3 p.m. Monday, the notice states, “The Egg Harbor Fire Department strongly urges the community to refrain from all burning, including campfires at this time.”

No burn permits will be issued, and annual permits are suspended until the ban is lifted. According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ WisBurn website, Door County is currently at a low fire danger level.

Egg Harbor Fire Chief Justin MacDonald told the Door County Daily News that they are trying to be preemptive with their burn ban issuance, especially as area farmers hit their fields to harvest wheat.
