Just because the summer academy season is over does not mean the learning has stopped at Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Egg Harbor. The organization will host three different musical retreats this month, beginning with wind ensemble on Aug. 12, followed by chamber music on Aug. 17 and piano on Aug. 21.
Each session ends with a free concert at 2 p.m.: wind ensemble on Aug. 15, chamber music on Aug. 20 and piano on Aug. 24. Birch Creek Music Performance Center Executive Director Jenna Ferdon says it is inspiring to see so many adults in the community who want to get better at their instruments.
The adult retreat concerts serve as a precursor to Birch Creek’s fall concert series, which kicks off Sept. 12 with the Michael Stryker Quintet. You can listen to our full interview with Ferdon here.
