Community comes together for Habitat golf outing

Local golfers had another opportunity Thursday to hit the links in the name of a good cause. Door County Habitat for Humanity hosted its seventh annual Home-in-One Golf Outing at Idlewild Golf Course in Sturgeon Bay, with proceeds benefiting the organization’s affordable housing projects on the peninsula. The event carries extra significance for Executive Director Lori Allen, and not just because of her role with Door County Habitat for Humanity. Dozens of local businesses and Allen’s neighbors donated time, raffle prizes and money to make the event a reality. One of the holes was sponsored by Allen’s neighbor, Keitha McDonald, who dedicated it to her late husband, Mac. She says Allen’s passion for the organization made it an easy decision to support their friend.

Allen is thankful for the support the community gives to Door County Habitat for Humanity and all of the area’s nonprofit organizations.

Door County Habitat for Humanity began its 51st home build late last month in Sister Bay, a project it hopes to complete by the end of the year, along with home repair projects in other parts of the county.
