The Luxemburg-Casco fire and police departments were among nine agencies in northeast Wisconsin to receive Rewarding Responders grants from the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation this week.
WPS awarded $75,000 in grants through the program to help police, fire and emergency medical services agencies afford the equipment they need to stay safe and help people in times of need. The Luxemburg Fire Department used its grant funding to purchase an automated external defibrillator (AED), while the Luxemburg Police Department acquired new protective vests for officers.
“As a small agency, grant opportunities like this allow us to acquire essential, high-grade safety equipment that directly impacts the daily lives and protection of our officers without placing an added burden on local taxpayers,” said Neil Dorner, police chief of the Luxemburg Police Department. “Community partnerships are the backbone of public safety. This support from the WPS Foundation demonstrates a shared commitment to the safety and well-being of the village of Luxemburg.”
Dozens of other communities in the area, including nearby Denmark and New Franken, as well as the Wisconsin K9 Response Team, received $2,000 grants through the foundation.
