Sally A. Lau

Sally A. Lau, 84 years, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Bayview Senior Care in Sturgeon Bay.

    

She was born June 2, 1939 in Sturgeon Bay the daughter of the late Hubert “Hub” and Luella (Berns) Haen. Sally graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1957. On October 5, 1957, she married James P. Lau at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

    

Sally was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay where she served as a eucharistic minister. She loved being a mother and grandmother and enjoyed planning and preparing meals, reading books about westerns, mysteries, and author Nora Roberts, along with knitting and solving puzzles.

    

Surviving family include her seven children, Catherine Bosman of New Franken, Sandy (James) Malcore of Brussels, Thomas (fiancé, Julie Thiry) Lau of Sturgeon Bay, Jeffrey (Shannon) Lau of Sturgeon Bay, John (Sherry) Lau of Sturgeon Bay, Marsha (Dennis) Engelbert of Sturgeon Bay, Karen (Greg) Nelson of Howards Grove; seventeen grandchildren and blessed with many great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Schultz, Polly Westfall, Gary (Janice) Haen, Mary (Paul) Fisher, Linda Steshetz, James Haen, Gordy (Gail) Haen, John (Karen) Haen, Joan Boyer; in-laws, Denise Haen, and Patty (Haen) Nolte; many nieces and nephews from the Lau and Haen families.

    

Preceding her in death were her parents, Hub and Luella Haen; husband, Jim Lau; two brothers, David and Donald Haen and son-in-law Terry Bosman.

    

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Fr. Ryan Krueger officiating. The rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m.

    

Memorials may be made in her memory to St. John Bosco Catholic School.
