Catherine L. (Heinz) Jungr

Cathy L. Jungr, 70, of Sturgeon Bay passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay.

Surviving family include her husband of 40 years, Jim Jungr; two children, Amy (Sean) Moran of Madison and Jacoby Jungr of Sturgeon Bay; two grandchildren, Jyoti Jungr and Andromeda Moran; brother, Lester (Jaime) Heinz of Menomonee Falls.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas F. Heinz and Bonnie J. (Bratthauer) Heinz of Geneva, IL.

Cathy was born and raised in Geneva, IL, graduating from high school there before graduating in 1976 from Bowling Green University with a degree in accounting. Cathy worked for Owens Illinois and PepsiCo as an auditor while living in Toledo, OH before moving back to Chicago where she earned her CPA and began working in HR for MidCon, a natural gas company. While there, she graduated with an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1982 and was always proud of being a pioneering woman breaking the “glass ceiling”.

In 1981 she met Jim in Chicago and later married him in 1983. Cathy would occasionally joke that she never got a grade of “B” in school until she started dating Jim. Later, Cathy chose to leave her corporate career to be a stay-at-home mom to raise her young children. She made the move to Door County in 1994 and spent several years both raising her children and working as a part time bookkeeper. In 1998, on a chance conversation at a couple’s bowling dinner, Cathy overheard there was a need for a commercial launderer in Door County. Within 17 days, she had opened the doors to a new facility operating a small business venture called, The Linen Press. The company grew, and in 2000, she built a facility in the Sturgeon Bay Industrial Park where it still resides.

Cathy has won two business awards, first in 2009 for her work with people with disabilities for Northeast Wisconsin and then in 2019, when she was recognized with a state award for employing “hard to place” individuals.

She will be lovingly missed by family, friends, her cat Elena, and possibly most by her dog, Kepler.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society - Door County Campus to honor her love of animals and adoption of rescue animals.

A memorial service will be held at 5:45 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Huehns Funeral Home. Friends may call on Saturday at Huehns Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:45 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Catherine may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
