Laurie Margaret (Sampone) Haberli

Laurie Margaret Haberli, 59 of the Town of Jacksonport, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, July 25, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay with her family at her side.

She was born October 16, 1963, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late William Wallace and Margaret Ellen (Husby) Sampone. Laurie graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1981.

On May 8, 1982, she married John Carl Haberli at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Jacksonport. Laurie worked at several Door County restaurants beginning at the age of 13 until her double lung transplant in 2000. She and John worked their 14-acre garden for many years providing truckloads of tomatoes and other produce to local grocery stores and restaurants to which Laurie delivered herself.

Her family was her joy.  She loved attending and watching her girls show their horses and her grandsons compete at trap shooting competitions.

She will be missed by her husband of 41 years, John; children, Katie (fiancé, Aaron Renier) Jensen of Egg Harbor and Molly Haberli of Portland Oregon; grandchildren, Andrew, John and Isaiah; brother, William “Bill” (Cheryl) Sampone of New London; sister, Julie (Wade) Jonas of the Town of Jacksonport; many dear nieces and nephews and their families. Laurie will always be in our hearts, and she said, “I’ll be looking down on you all and will love you forever.”

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Amber Haberli (1996).

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay from 3:00 p.m. until the service at 6:45 p.m. with Gary Scharrig officiating.

Laurie will be laid to rest in Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in West Jacksonport next to her daughter, Amber, at a private graveside service.

She would want all our you to hear her wish for all of you; “Life is short, be an organ donor.”

Expressions of sympathy, memories, and phots of Laurie may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
