Louis M. DeClark

Louis M. DeClark, 89, Brussels passed away at his home surrounded by his family on October 6, 2023.  He was born August 8,1934 in Iron Mountain, Michigan to Louis and Clarice (Buzzo) DeClark. On June 26, 1954, he married Shirley Mae LeRoy in Brussels, she preceded him in death on December 6, 2019.

 

Louis served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957.  After the service, he was a licensed barber and then became a master plumber and operated his own plumbing business.   Louis was a member of the American Legion Post 372, Brussels Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Brussels Fire Department and a life member of the Gardner Rifle Club.  He loved golfing and made three “hole in ones”.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren.  Louis also enjoyed wintering for 24 years in Arizonia, where he and Shirley made many friends that were like family.

 

Survivors include his children, Steve (Rachel) DeClark, Brussels; Daren DeClark, Brussels; Kathy (Kelly Zehren) Kinnard, Luxemburg; Ten grandchildren, Christopher (Liz) DeClark, Jennifer DeClark, Cody (Carrie) DeClark, Olivia, Drew DeClark, Abby DeClark, Kraig (Nicole) Kinnard, Kyler (Tarynn) Kinnard, Mariah (Zach Stuebs) Kinnard, Rachael Zehren; eleven great grandchildren, James, Dakoda, Marshall, Amelia, Tucker, Joslyn, Johana, Liam, Brynn, Aubrey, and Crew; and one great-grandson due in February;  one new born great-great-grand daughter, Aspen, born on the date of his passing; sisters, Sharon (Mike) Lemens, Kay (Glen) Madoche , a brother, Leo (LeDeana) DeClark;  a sister-in-law, Evelyn Abts; and friend, Barb. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, daughter-in-law, Jami DeClark, sisters, Geraldine (Joe) LeFevre, Bernadette (James) Grassel; brother-in-law, Ted Abts; parents-in-law, Harry “H.J.” (Norma) LeRoy and Lorraine (Clarence) Pigeon.

 

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023, at St. Francis and St. Mary Church, Brussels. Entombment at Shrine of Good Shepherd Mausoleum later.  Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and then after 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church until time of services.  A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
