Diane J. Gill, 79 of Sturgeon Bay, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus, peacefully, on Thursday evening, October 12, 2023, while at home.
She was born December 27, 1943, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late John and Freida (Smith) Gill. Diane graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1962. She had worked at Amity Leather in Sturgeon Bay for several years until her employment with Sturgeon Bay Schools where she served 25 years as custodian and with food service.
Diane was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor even when she was not feeling especially good. Diane loved to lighten the load with a smart quip or joke, getting a laugh out of you. She was a good shot playing pool in various leagues and enjoyed playing all kinds of card games with family and friends. Diane had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially her dogs and rescue dogs that she homed. Weekly breakfast clubs were something she looked forward to, and we can’t forget her beloved Red Hatters women’s group she was a part of.
Surviving family are her brother, Darrel Gill of Lyndon Station; nieces and nephews, Rachel (Jeff) Dahlke of Sturgeon Bay, David (Mary) Gill of Watertown, WI, Judy Mc Donald of Greenville, WI, Mark Gill of Lyndon Station, Paul (Ruth) Gill of Algoma, John (Kim) Gill of Oldsmar, FL, Mike (Amanda) Gill of Bismark, ND.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Freida Gill; sister-in-law, Sharon Gill; and niece, Cindy Gill.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Carl Schroeder officiating. Burial will be at Bayside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
