Miles E. Haucke

Miles E. Haucke, 85, Luxemburg, died late Thursday, November 30, 2023, at a local hospital.  He was born in Algoma to the late Howard E. and Ruth E. (DeMeuse) Haucke on December 18, 1937.  A graduate of Algoma High School in 1956, then enlisted into the United States Air Force serving our country until 1960, with an honorable discharge.  On April 11, 1959, he married Joanne E. Ahrndt in Algoma.  She preceded him in death February 3, 1995.  On July 25, 2003, Miles married Jance Vandenhouten at St. Mary Church in Luxemburg.  She preceded him in death December 29, 2017.

 

Miles was employed with local Variety Stores as well as the Hardwood Industry.  He retired in 2001, following thirty five years at Algoma Hardwoods. He served as an Alderman in Algoma for nine years and was with the Algoma Fire Department for five years. His faith was important to him and served in many positions at the church. He was also a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 in Luxemburg.

 

He could always be found in his workshop tending to his many woodworking projects. Miles spent hours in his garden, loving the outdoors.  He was an avid sports fan and took pride in attending the games of his grandchildren.  Watching the Bucks, Brewers and the Packers were a must.  He was all excited to share the Packer Ice Bowl history with anyone, and may have given you a hard time if you were not a fan of the Packers!   He loved car rides and took pride in cooking for the American Legion events.

 

He will be missed.

 

Miles was proud of his six children, Jeffrey Miles Haucke (deceased), Suzanne Beckmann (Kent), Scott (Mary) Haucke, all of Algoma; Kelly (Tracy) Haucke, Beaver Dam; Robert (Rachel) Haucke, Randy (Tracy Gabert) Haucke, all of Sturgeon Bay; eleven grandchildren Jessica (Devin) Welhouse, Katie (Jesse) Selner, Brett Beckmann, Laura (Andrew) Harbath, Samantha Haucke (fiancé Jeff Forehand), Cody (Angela) Haucke, Cole Haucke, Ethan Haucke, Rose Haucke; two step-grandchildren Kathy (Dan) Gillean, Bryan (Shelby) Santy; six great grandchildren Dylan, Jack, Roman, Aubree, Kimmy, Jayce; one brother Dennis (Nancy) Haucke, Algoma; one sister Mavis Duerst, Sturgeon Bay; one sister in law Jean Haucke, Algoma; one brother in law John (Betty) Ravet, Sugarbush.

 

Miles was preceded in death by one brother Wayne “Butch” Haucke; brothers in law and sisters in law Lloyd (Carol) Cravillion, Randall Duerst, Melvin (Blanche) Ahrndt; Grandparents Elsie and Arnold Haucke, George and Adline DeMeuse.

 

Friends may call at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, between 9:00 and 10:40 am.  Funeral 11:00 am on Wednesday with Rev. Daniel Schuster officiating. Complete military honors following the Mass with the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 of Luxemburg.  Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Algoma.
