Joanne "Mariann" Resler

In Loving Memory of Joanne “Mariann” Resler, 85, who departed this world on December 17, 2023.

Having had a challenging childhood, family meant everything to her, and was an attribute that she instilled in her children, as well. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 55 years, Gilbert Resler, until his death on September 30, 2013. She was fiercely protective of all four of her children. She touched the lives of many with kindness, humor, laughter, and generosity. She was like a second mother to her niece, Sheila (Resler) Swanson of West Allis, a role she also proudly embraced for countless others. She treasured her life-long friendship with Marietta Tanck of Egg Harbor. She was known for her outgoing personality; Joanne never met a stranger and was quick to point out that she was from the “thumb” of Wisconsin. She loved to travel and was never afraid of a new challenge. She will be dearly missed by family and friends alike, leaving behind a legacy of strength and compassion for others. May her soul rest in peace, and may family and friends find strength in the cherished memories shared with her.

She is survived by her four daughters, Cheryl (Ray) Poole of Columbia, SC, Cindy Pelnar of Green Bay, Linda Resler of Egg Harbor, Leann (James) Leonardson of Sturgeon Bay; her four grandchildren, Angela (Tim) Butterfield of Lenoir City, TN, Jennifer (fianceé Jennifer Kaczynski) Rosenfeld of Columbia, SC, Stephanie (John) Marrs of Columbia, SC, Alex (Reanna) Pelnar of Oneida; six great-grandchildren, Carolynn, Eloise and James Butterfield, Isabella and Timothy (Joseph) Rosenfeld, Duncan Marrs; a sister, Donna Braley of Denton, TX; and other nieces, nephews; and relatives.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Resler; her parents; five brothers and three sisters; and other relatives.

“Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Bayview Senior Care (formerly Anna’s Healthcare) and Unity Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care give to our mother.”

Mariann's life will be honored with a funeral service held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Juddville, Pastor Frank Kauzlarich officiating. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery, beside her husband, Gilbert.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and will continue at the church, Friday morning, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Memorials may be given in her name for St. Paul Lutheran Church (4167 Juddville Road, Fish Creek, WI 54212) or Unity Hospice (2366 Oak Ridge Circle, De Pere, WI 54115).

Expressions of sympathy and memories of Mariann may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
