Roger Harry Douglass

Roger Harry Douglass, 71, of Town of Ahnapee, WI, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

He was born March 6, 1952, in Algoma, the fourth child and only son of Robert Homer Douglass and Hortense "Sue" Pauline (Richardson) Douglass. Roger mainly initially attended school in Algoma with a few years overseas in Panama and Vietnam when the family relocated for his father's job. He graduated from Algoma High School with the class of 1970.

Roger went on to study at the University of Wisconsin-Stout before deciding to pursue an apprenticeship in plumbing. He sported the title of master plumber for over 50 years.

Roger enjoyed hunting, golfing, and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He also liked to build and tinker on various projects. Roger loved to interact with any dog he met, but he especially cared for his own canine companions including Wowie, Fritz, Stinko the "Wonder Dog", and Orville.

He will be missed by his sister Ellen (Tom) Rineck of Iola, WI;  nephews,  Mark (Leah) Rineck (and their daughters, Kayley and Natalie) of Fitchburg, WI,  Matt Rineck of Arizona, and Scott Albertson (and his son, Ethan) of North Carolina; nieces, Erin (Tony) Heitland, (and their daughter, Emery) of Garner, IA, Lindsay (Mike) Witt (and their sons, Asher and Zak) of Polk City, IA, and Kim (Ryan) Terry (and their daughter, Rachael and son, Trace) of State Road, NC; brothers-in-law, Lynn Gunderson of Jefferson, IA and Gordon Albertson of Jacksonville, NC; other relatives; and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Gunderson and Anne Albertson; and other relatives.

His family is thankful they were able to visit with (Roger) at their annual New Year's gathering in La Crosse, WI just a week before his death. We also take comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved sister, Mary, after 28 years of missing her.

Roger's life will be honored with a memorial service held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Schinderle Funeral Home, 1600 Schinderle Lane, Algoma, WI 54201 with Rev. David Leistra officiating. He will be laid to rest in Osage Cemetery in Osage, IA.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Roger may be shared with his family through his tribute page at www.schinderlefuneralhome.com.
