Carol VanGoethem

Carol A. VanGoethem, 80, Kewaunee, passed away on June 9, 2024. She was born on June 24, 1943, to the late Edward and Marie (Coppens) Skaleski. On February 19, 1966, she married Bob VanGoethem. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1994. Carol was a cook early in life. She then owned and operated Bob & Carol’s Hideaway where she made numerous friends, shook many games of dice, and played a lot of cards. After her husband’s passing and selling the bar, she moved to the farm with Dale where her favorite pastime was cutting grass and driving the tractor during haying and while they picked stones. She also enjoyed the Music in the Park and Friday dinners at Moe’s in Rio Creek. Carol is survived by her special friend, Dale Fictum; daughter, Karen (Pat) Muchowski; granddaughters, Stephanie (Marty) LaTour, and Patricia (Trey) Knoll; great-grandsons, Landon and Karson LaTour; sisters, Jeanette (Ray) VanGoethem, and Eileen (Joe) Layden; sisters-in-law, Carol LeLou, Elaine Leiterman, Betty Zimmer-Wagner, Linda VanGoethem, Diane (Vince) Delain, and Pat VanGoethem; as well as by many nieces and nephews, and her special companion, Bear. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert VanGoethem; parents, Edward and Marie Skaleski; brother, Glen Skaleski; in-laws, Archie and Mert VanGoethem; brothers-in-law, Arnie (Joyce) VanGoethem, Harold (Karen) VanGoethem, Bill VanGoethem, Marc LeLou, Don Leiterman, Jeff VanGoethem, Marlin Zimmer, and Howard Wagner. Visitation will take place at St. Therese Parish – St. Joseph / St. John Church Site E0860 WI-29, Luxemburg, WI 54217, on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 9:00-11:00 am, Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am with Fr. Dennis Drury officiating. A time to gather, reminisce, and honor the memory of a woman who touched the lives of many will follow the funeral Mass at the Kewaunee Agriculture Heritage Center, N2251 WI-42, Kewaunee, WI 54216. Entombment will take place the following day at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family. Online condolence messages may be shared at KinnardFCS.com.
