Carol M. Hobson

Carol M. Hobson, 91, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on June 14, 2024. She was born Nov. 12, 1932, in Madison to Frederick and Julia (Ryon) Trenk. On Nov. 19, 1955, she married Dr. Walter Stanley Hobson in Madison. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1995. After graduating from the University of WI - Madison, Carol worked for several organizations including Stouffer Restaurant Corporation, and the YMCA in Milwaukee. After she and her husband moved to Sturgeon Bay, she worked as a dietician at Door County Memorial Hospital. Carol was a long-time and active member of the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church where she served on numerous committees. She was also a “life member” of the Door County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a volunteer at the Miller Art Museum, and was active in the local P.E.O. scholarship organization. Carol loved the outdoors. She enjoyed tending numerous gardens, going to the family cottage, taking boat rides, and taking car rides around Door County, occasionally stopping for a root beer float. Carol also enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending winters in Florida. She loved flying and even took some pilot courses. Carol was a very kind and loving person who was always concerned about others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son Barry (Barb) Hobson, Sturgeon Bay; 2 grandchildren, Paul Hobson of Waukesha, and Rebecca (Christian) Anderson of Amarillo, TX; 2 great-grandchildren, Mariana and Naomi Anderson; 2 sisters, Mildred Hogan of St. Paul, MN, and Lois Clark of Jefferson, IA; 2 brothers, F. Bruce Trenk of Pagaso Springs, CO, and Hugh (Dorthea) Trenk, of New Farifield, CT. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law Naomi Pierce-Hobson, grandson Thomas Hobson, and in-law, Harold Hogan and John Clark. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am on June 24, 2024, at the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Matthew Knapp officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
