John S. Wagner

John Stanley Wagner, 74, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024.  He was born November 3, 1949, in Milwaukee to John and Esther (Pezewski) Wagner. On September 27, 1969, he married Sandra J. Kratwell in Milwaukee, and shared 53 years until she preceded him in death on May 1, 2022.  John leaves behind his 4-legged best friend, Ruby, a daughter Christie (Kevin) Pichette, Algoma and their children Michael (Jamie), Tyler & Kaitlyn; Todd (Leda) Wagner, WI Dells and their daughter Autumn and two great-grandchildren Easton & Harper; and Adam (Shannon) Wagner, Baraboo and their son Parker.  John graduated from Boys Technology and Trade School and went on to serve honorably in the Army in the 285th Military Police Co. of the 94th Battalion in Baumholder, Germany, where he dedicated his efforts to maintaining discipline and security within the ranks. After his military service, he returned to Wisconsin and embarked on a diverse career.  John's professional journey was marked by his craftsmanship as a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker working at Cutler-Hammer, C&S Manufacturing and Overland Bolling Company.  He also was a beloved YMCA Swim Instructor and Aquatics Director.  John was honored as the 1994 Door County YMCA Adult Volunteer of the Year. He finished his career with Cellcom before retiring. John was proud to be selected to participate in Mission 61 of the Old Glory Honor Flight. A true Wisconsinite at heart, John was an avid fan of the Brewers and the Packers. His love for Harley Davidson motorcycles led him on many road trips.    Additionally, John enjoyed camping and bowling and recently was an enthusiastic participant in the Door County Cornhole League. Our family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support during this difficult time. To honor our father's wishes, there will be no funeral services and John & Sandy's ashes will be forever together. Simply Cremation of Green Bay, WI, is assisting the family with arrangements.
