Karen Bournoville
Karen Theresa Bournoville, 84, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on July 10, 2024, at Pine Crest Village. She was born Aug. 7, 1939, in Green Bay to Gordon and Celia (Delwiche) Hendricks. Karen graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay in 1958. On Nov. 26, 1959, she married Lee Bournoville, who preceded her in death just 17 days before her. For 40 years, Karen worked at Door County Memorial Hospital in numerous positions. She was a tireless volunteer and spent countless hours helping numerous organizations including Corpus Christi Church and School, the Sturgeon Bay Jaycees, the Door County YMCA, Loaves and Fishes, the Hospital Auxiliary and the Foot Clinic. When not volunteering, Karen and Lee enjoyed taking bus trips with Babler. To keep her mind sharp, Karen enjoyed working on puzzles and playing card games. She loved cooking and baking for family events, taking walks, and exercising at the YMCA. Karen was passionate about her faith and was a very devout Catholic. She will be lovingly remembered as a very caring and giving person who was quick to help others. Family was everything to Karen. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and enjoyed attending many of their activities and events. Survivors include 5 children, Bruce (Donna) Bournoville of Usk, Washington, Tina (Jim) Stawicki, Brian (Cheryl) Bournoville, Tammy (Doc) Bundy, and Traci Bournoville, all of Sturgeon Bay; 10 grandchildren, Justin (Maria), Nathan (Miranda), Christopher (Hunter), Lindsey (Cameron), Joe (Tim), Danny, Matthew, Taylor (Dylan),Derrick, and Alex (Sammy); 10 great-grandchildren, Reaghan, Avery, Juniper, Willow, Kylee, Aubree, Liam, Lila, Auggie, and Nora;, 3 sisters, JoAnn (Bob) Briester, Jackie VanPay and Janice Swoboda; 2 brothers, Ken (Jan) Hendricks and David (Patti) Hendricks; and sister-in-law Diane Baudhuin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, William (Ginger) Hendricks and Gerald (Connie) Hendricks; sister, Joyce Hendricks; in-laws, Theresa Hendricks, Jim VanPay, Lary Swoboda, Shirley Bournoville, and Al Baudhuin. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, July 15, 2024, at Corpus Christi Church. Entombment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A prayer service is scheduled for 6:30 pm that evening. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Monday from 9:45 am until 10:30 am when the family will proceed to church for mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
