Marilyn Lang

Marilyn Lang (Mantych), 76, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 7th, 1948, in Milwaukee to Stephen and Florence (Wysocki) Mantych. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. On August 8th, 1970, she married the love of her life, Howard Lang, and for 54 years they raised four children together: Kimberly (William) Kortens, Kevin (Kayla) Lang, Kathryn (John) Knutson, Kyle (Cheryl) Lang. Family was Marilyn's greatest joy, and she was a proud grandmother to sixteen grandchildren: Ashlyn, Benjamin, Rorrie, Samara, Teddy, Devin, Stella, Sophia, Olivia, Jazlynn, Journey, Kaysen, Kolten, Illana, Jace, and Olia. Marilyn had a special place in her heart for children, she loved teaching preschool and Sunday school in her earlier years. Later, her role as a medical assistant provided her great pleasure and she took pride in the work she did for the doctors she worked with at Aurora in Milwaukee. Marilyn and Howard spent countless hours taking trips with family and friends on their boat Fish Tale. In retirement they took their boat down to Guntersville, Alabama where the winters were warmer. Eventually, they became “snow birds” in Spring Hill, Florida where she was closer to two of her siblings. In recent years, as her mobility declined, her husband, Howard, lovingly took care of her at home, until moving to St. Joseph's Rehabilitation center and then Trinity Terrace Assisted Living. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Florence Mantych; her brother James Mantych; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on October 14, 2024, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Deacon Mark Hibbs officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home on Monday. On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff for the compassion and attentive care she received. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff at Door County Memorial Clinic and Hospital for their dedication and commitment to their patients.
