Karon Ann Kita
Karon Ann Kita, 87, of Fish Creek, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at her home in Baileys Harbor. She was born April 4, 1937, in Baileys Harbor, WI, the daughter of Flavian and Marion (Appel) Zak. Karon attended Gibraltar and graduated with the class of 1955. On April 4, 1959, she married Gerald Harry Kita. Karon and Gerald lived in Baileys Harbor, WI, and they celebrated 65 years of their marriage this past April. Karon and Gerald owned and operated Kita Farms. In 1980, they were founding members of the Northern Door Cherry Corporation. They would remain members of the corporation for 42+ years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Altar Sodality. Karon enjoyed spending many years teaching Sunday School at St. Mary of the Lake Church in Baileys Harbor. She enjoyed attending the sporting events of her grandchildren. Karon will be missed by daughter, June (David) Prust; two sons, Jeff Kita, and Jay (Brenda) Kita, all of Baileys Harbor, WI; grandchildren, Samantha Prust, Nicholas (Jessica) Kita, Lauren (Johnny) Coates, Karlee Kita, and Braden Kita; great-granddaughter, Raelynn Kita; brother, James Zak; and sisters-in-law, Sally Zak and Geraldine Zelhofer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Thomas (Joyce) Zak, brother, Willard Zak; sister-in-law, Ruth Zak; parents-in-law, Roman and Flora Kita; four brothers-in-law, Donald Kita, James (Katherine) Kita, Everett (Joanne) Kita and John Zelhofer. Karon's life will be honored with a Mass of Christian burial held at Stella Maris Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 11:30AM in Baileys Harbor, WI , with Father Tom Farrell officiating. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery in Baileys Harbor. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 8:30am until time of service at the Stella Maris Catholic Church in Baileys Harbor. Thank you to Unity Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Mom over the last couple months. Also, to all of our family and neighbors for the visits and food deliveries. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Karon's name for the improvements of the cemetery grounds. Casperson Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay is assisting the Kita family.
