Julius A. Thiry

Julius A. Thiry, 88, Casco, went to be with his Lord on Christmas, December 25, 2024, at Autumn Fields. He was born on April 14, 1936, to the late Henry and Stella (Prokash) Thiry. On September 5, 1959, he married Bonnie Langnehs at St. Peter Catholic Church in Lincoln. He worked at Casco Cheese for 9 years, then Fort Howard Paper Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1996. He drove school bus for 2 years, was a member of the Casco Fire Department for 14 years, serving as chief for 7 of those years. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 9 years. Julius is survived by his wife Bonnie; sons, Mark Thiry, Crivitz; Steve (Marci) Thiry, Winneconne; son-in-law, Chuck Skubal, Mishicot; his precious granddaughters who he adored, Andrea Thiry, Norfolk, VA; Amie Thiry, Dousman; Emily Skubal, Mishicot; his brothers, Dale (Rachel) Thiry, Casco; Dennis (Dorothy) Thiry, Luxemburg; Mike Thiry, Luxemburg; his sister, Sandy (Harold) Demoulin, Green Bay; his sisters-in-law, Joyce (Paul) Mullins, Sandy (Bob) Robinson, Algoma; many special nieces and nephews; and special friend Carol McEwing. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Stella; brother, David; daughter Kelly; and granddaughter, Katie Beth. Julius loved Jesus very much and was devoted to Adoration every Tuesday. He enjoyed getting together with his high school buddies for lunch, he loved talking to everyone, he was genuinely fond of his days on the fire department and his Army service. He greatly loved his trip to Medjugorje where he met the family that he and Bonnie sponsored in Bosnia. He was thrilled to have gone to Hawaii. Julius was a very generous man, giving to everyone who needed anything. He loved living his whole life in Casco. Thank you to Ascension Home Health for their wonderful care. And, a special thank you to all those who gave such great care to him at Autumn Fields, you know who you are. He cared deeply for each of you. Visitation will take place at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Casco, on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. with prayers at 4:00 pm led by Deacon Bob Miller. Visitation will continue on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the funeral home from 9:00-10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Schuster officiating. The Mass will be live-streamed on the Kinnard Funeral Home Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/AlgomaCascoFunerals. Online condolences can be shared at KinnardFCS.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Julius’ name.
